nurturing & empowering young women

Cara is a not for profit community service organisation providing specialist accommodation, care and support for vulnerable children and young women who are unable to live at home or with their family and who are clients of the Victorian child protection system.
Established in 1979 by a group of concerned individuals, Cara has based its operation on always acting in the best interests of the young people in our care, with a focus on supporting and encouraging each young person to achieve positive outcomes in their lives.
Operating in the eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne, and primarily funded by the Department of Human Services (DHS), Cara programs aim to empower our young women to become stronger, more confident and resilient and therefore better equipped to realise their full potential.
