Volunteer With Cara |
Being a teenager was hard. Being a female teenager was hard.Don’t you wish you knew then what you know now?Imagine doing all of that again without the support of the people who pulled you through those hard years.Cara friendship programNot all young women in Cara’s care have a connection with their families or significant adults. Our Friendship Program introduces committed community members to becoming a ‘friend’ to a young woman who is without a network of support outside of her professional staff support. This relationship will assist the girls to increase their social networks, interests and be able to enjoy the benefits of support and friendship.
our aimThe aim of the Friendship Program is to develop & maintain a friendship whereby a young woman will be linked with a volunteer to establish a meaningful relationship whilst they are in care and after they leave the child protection system.
how you can helpSupport our young women through these difficult years.
We are looking for women who are able to volunteer.
...you and the young woman might do everyday things like
...or just hanging out!
Taking part in our Friendship Program would involve connecting you with a young woman, allowing time for a relationship to develop and continue after the young women move on from Cara care.
Provide consistency and flexibility in developing a relationship with a young woman and we would hope that you can develop a regular interaction with her.
The regularity of the relationship will be determined by what works well for the two of you.
